Host Families

We require students to live with American host family. Our host families are strong, loving, nurturing and safe Christian families with a passion and heart for International students and an appreciation for other cultures.

Host families provide students with a room, food, and transportation to and from school during school days. Their role is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that fosters personal development. Many students form strong friendships with their host families, and most consider their host families their “home away from home.”

We match students with a friendly, caring host family by taking into consideration the student’s preferences and characteristics and our potential host families’ characteristics. Each host family is carefully selected, interviewed, assessed, screened and approved by students’ school.

We communicate with each host family at least once a month (more when needed) as part of the regular reports we send to update parents on their student’s progress and well-being. We require our host families to make a minimum of one-year commitment to hosting students in order to ensure students are able to avoid the hassle of moving and adjusting to a new home environment.

In many cases, host families will have Children/ other students that also go to the student’s school. Students can expect to be treated like a member of their host family, to participate in their host family’s activities, conversations and chores, and to join in family celebrations or events. Often, the attitude in our host families is that they are not just looking for a “roommate”, but a “family member”. Students often end up building life-long connections and friendships with their host families that often continue on into their adult lives.

Students that embrace their home families gain the greatest benefit from studying in America. Host families are where students can feel safe asking questions and making cross cultural adjustments, improve English proficiency, gain new perspectives, and grow and mature quickly. This experience helps students to grow into independent adults, preparing them for success in university and beyond.
